Just a little late

Remember the All Framed Up quilt I made in July?  I made it to the park last week and did a mini photo shoot for the big release, but then I totally spaced sharing this exciting news last week when the pattern was released (sorry Melissa). You can read more on the big release and see this beauty made with different fabrics on Melissa's blog Sew BitterSweet Designs.   I really want to do a king sized version of this, the one on Melissa's blog is just beautiful.

We had a great weekend at our house and in return, I'm gearing up for what seems to be a busy week, but it may just be today since soccer starts tonight for my boy. Then on Saturday both kids will be playing so I will be getting a workout running from one end of the soccer fields to the other.

A lovely year of finishes

Yesterday I posted almost all of my 2012 finishes.  Today (ok, yesterday) I joined the group "A lovely year of finishes" on flicker that is being hosted by Fiber of all sorts and Sew BitterSweet Designs.

The goal is One month, one project, one finish for 12-months. 2013 a year of lovely finishes. 

For January, My goal is to finish the Sew Intertwined quilt that I gave to my daughter as a WIP for Christmas.   

Here it is in it's present state.



I need to rip out some of the quilting on the back, I have a HUGE pucker, and then finish the quilting.    I can't wait to show you the quilting on the back it is so cool!    I also need to trim it up, make the binding, and bind it.

This and that

Good morning! I know it is afternoon or evening for some of you so good day to you!  

I've had a productive morning so far, I have done some cleaning up, got my morning workout in and even took a couple of pictures of some things I worked on yesterday.

One of my college friends had a baby on the 22nd and I wanted to make her a little something for the baby.  I started digging in my stash and found a few pieces that would work well for her little bundle of joy, The baby was 10 pounds 2 ounces, so she isn't so little.

Here are the fabrics I chose for the quilt.

I thought the bears were the perfect fit.   I'm not sold on this layout, so things may change before I start sewing things together.

My mom also makes quilts, but she doesn't quilt them, she gives them to me.   Here is one she gave me before Christmas to quilt for her.  It is a nice sized baby quilt that measures 39"x 49".     I pulled the binding from my stash. It is sort of a herring bone print on the turquoise.

I quilted 1/4" to the inside of each rectangle.

I'm glad the quilt wasn't any larger that what it is because, I didn't realize what a pain in the butt it was going to be to quilt it the way I did.  I love how it looks, but it is a lot of work, unlike my normal free motion meandering.

Today I'm going to be working on my friends baby quilt and I just uploaded some more pictures for my post on the 8th!
