Satisfaction

Are we ever truly satisfied?  I feel like there is nothing like the satisfaction of a completed project, that makes you crave more.  Especially when you get them done long before they are needed.  I use sewing as my stress reliever, it is like a drug to me.  I love it and just have to get a little bit in each day or I don't feel complete.


I finished up the Record Spin quilt that I talked about in my last post.  So here it is in all its glory, quilted, and bound.

I just loved how it turned out.  I free motion quilted it.     I'm going to be making a mug rug in the next few weeks when I decide on what fabric I am going to use and I think I might venture out on the quilting and try quilting an actual design.  I really hope Miss Erin and baby Elizabeth enjoy this quilt.  

I decided that my daughter didn't have enough 'Springy' clothes in her closet so I made her a cut little jumper.  I think it will work for all summer long as well.  I originally bought the fabric to make her a pinafore last summer, but I never got around to using it up until now.

I keep looking at my stash thinking what will I make next.  I want to make some re-usable shopping bags, but I just don't want to use up my stash on those.   I haven't had any of the ones like you buy at Target or other big box stores for a dollar.  I wonder how they hold up.  The fabric to make them is pretty cheap, especially if you have one of those great coupons or even if they are on sale for a % off.  

I promise I will get better at this blogging thing.

While I have been neglecting my blog, I have been busy working on fun little things. I was commissioned to make some pillow case dresses, I like them all but my favorite is the vintage floral with it green ties.

And I have made another quilt top. This is a pattern I found at Suzanne's Quilt Shop.  I found it to be super easy and a great way to use up some scraps in my 18 gallon rubbermaid tote full of scraps from various projects.  I modified the pattern a bit by not doing the boarders exactly as Suzanne did but if I do say so myself it made a fun baby quilt.  My son is squishing up the corners and the wind was blowing but I put a pinwheel at each corner.

 I have a few weeks to get it quilted but it is done and I will probably be working on that sooner than later.

Now I need to find my 'to do' list and see what other fun things I can make.  I'm guessing it will be some fun springy dresses or outfits for my daughter and her new kitty from build a bear.

Julie over at Distant Pickle's put together a great Tortoise Shell quilt along over the past few weeks and I thought I would share my finished piece here for all to enjoy.

I used a combination of old and new fabric to make it.  I am going to set a goal to use at least 1 piece of fabric from my stash and or scrap bag for each project.  I started yesterday organizing it by color instead of just having piles in gigantic tubs in the closet.  Now if I just had a good way to display it for inspiration. 

Of course I always seem to have multiple projects going on at once. While I was working on the above quilt, this pile of neatly stacked pieces were staring me in the face.

Well now they are staring at me again but in a different form. Ignore the ragged edge on piece they are hanging from.   

I have some pieces of solid cut to sew each one on and the center to each on already cut and pressed, but then I started yet another project... the above mentioned sorting of the fabric stash...

That is just a partial amount from one of the gigantic tubs of fabric that I have 'stashed' in the closet.

Well for now I must go complete the task of cleaning the kitchen since the dish fairy never seems to visit my home.
